My son came to visit for a few days and we took a trip way down the coast and over to Crater Lake. I took 575 photos the first day, probably close to 1500 all together. We had started off with the idea of visiting the eight remaining lighthouses. After the second lighthouse we decided to go straight to Crater Lake. We set the gps and arrived at sunset, it was a solid 12 hours of travel.

This is what we found when we arrived at Crater Lake at sunset. It was a perfect timing which I remarked on to myself over and over again. while the sun was going down behind us ...

I got some really nice shots, I have some of the sunset on the snow right across from Crater lake that are fabulous IMO. Access to the lake was limited and the place we wanted to get to was still snowed in. It would have let us get down to the lake itself. The lake is the deepest in the U.S. 1,900 feet approx. It has no inlet or outlet. Only rain and snow feed it and it maintains a yearly 3' difference in low and high water levels. In daylight it is the purest blue imaginable.
