Interlude In The Rain
Through the rain a ragged cat of undetermined color hurries with a remnant of black feathers still in his mouth; a commotion of small black birds surrounds him.
He continues, only slightly perturbed, as they dart at him like flies around a horse on a hot summer day before disappearing from sight.
Shortly the birds return, alighting in a cherry tree by the edge of the yard before dropping to the ground to feed again.
Raindrops continue, their percussion pounds out multitudes of rings in the puddle at the end of the driveway, creating bubbles that appear on the surface and glide together briefly before vanishing one by one.
