The spiritual aspect comes through to me too. Certainly these drawings, whatever else they represented to those who built them, indicate a desire or searching for something outside of themselves. In Peru the natives use a hallucinogenic cactus, the San Pedro, in their traditional religious practices. San Pedro contains Mescaline and is legal to sell buy and grow. I have grown it myself. Some people think this hallucinogenic plant may have played a part in the ability to conceive of and design these creations.
